i have checked DCOM again and found the following information:
Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) is a proprietary Microsoft technology for communication among software components distributed across networked computers. DCOM, which originally was called "Network OLE", extends Microsoft's COM, and provides the communication substrate under Microsoft's COM+ application server infrastructure. It has been deprecated in favor of Microsoft .NET.

Correct me if im wrong but i really dont think i require it do i?

I've done the Black Viper services.
He lists choices along the lines of: Safe, a bit more daring, turn the lot off.
I can tell you nothing bad happens if you choose the 3rd option. I've run it like that for years.

However, you may want one or two on - wireless for instance if you use it. And UPS if you own and use one.
Most items are described so you know what they are for.

Vista is another matter, I tried a combination of Black Viper and another site (at the time the other site had better descriptions). Again nothing terrible happened.
So Black Viper is pretty reliable, he does investigate them, not just pull them out of his hat.

If you are dubious, then start by using the Safest list. Turn things off one or two at a time. Use the PC and see if anything stops working or becomes unstable. If so re-enable it.

That way you'll know what, if anything, caused you a problem.

There are some dependencies in SQL Server but in most cases DCOM isn't needed.

For the most part, a system functions fine without DCOM
being enabled, but you do loose some central management
capabilities (most noteably things via WMI such as in quick
scripts). Early .Net development referred to COM+ and its
remoting under the banner "Enterprise Services". DCOM is
legacy, being supplanted with native .Net remoting capabilities.
Other than loosing WMI you might notice mostly issues in
    layered applications.

This is the best guide to which services to keep and which to disable.
Everything is described in detail. Only you can decide what you need.
Read the detail, all you need to know is there.
There is also a goldmine of other info to get the best from your comp.
    Good luck.

No offence but if you really think its your computer being slow then maybe its time for some upgrades? Disabling services wont really give you much increase.

And if its internet that is slow then its definitely the dial-up doing it.

You could consider downgrading to windows 98 or 2000 if you want simple

Without trawling through your log, which means absolute nothing to me. What are the specs of your computer?

Try Googling "Essential Processes needed to run Windows " and you should get at least the bare essential services required.
Personally I agree with what you appear to be attempting to do as long as you are aware that "You might break it!"
Nothing wrong with a bit of experimenting (Thats how we learn) but I would be sure to have a good backup of your "C" Drive sitting on an external close at hand..... just in case
I use "http://www.nliteos.com" and have made up my own lite version of XP which already has most of what I deem as "unneccessary" services removed (CD is only 233MB) but what I remove may not be what you would choose, so it's personal choice.
    Good luck
