It's so much easier to suggest solutions when you don't know too much about the problem.
GOM or VLC - Gom sounds ok through my PA
I would say WMP (unless you have an iPod).
Otherwise choose one that as the features and interface you like most.

I personally use Winamp.
VLC or WMP11
I'd go for WinAmp.
While the new VLC 0.9.* looks nicer, its still not quite as nice as something like Winamp for your music.
That said, I use iTunes to stream music to my Airport Express!![]()

What sort of speakers are they?
The player doesn't matter too much as they all have the same sound quality regardless.
More important is your content - what type of music have you got? MP3's, WMA's, CD's etc.
WMP11, it has everything you need and sounds really good through my surround sound speakers.
All the technology and software in the universe is useless when the end user has the IQ of a sack of hammers.
They have a free and paid for version.
