    Default sys32\config\system corrupt

    Hi all,

When I rebooted my XP SP2 system this morning I got as far as a boot-screen error message about a file called 'system' being corrupt. The recommendation was to boot to the recovery console with the XP installer CD.

When I got to the recovery console I didn't have the foggiest idea how to implement a repair of 'system'. Fortunately I was able to lift a copy of 'system' from a Ghost, and using another computer, replaced the corrupted one and all was ok again.

But the recovery console remains a mystery to me and I would like to learn how to do such a replacement using the console.

Any tips welcome, or pointers on where I might find a walk-through gratefully received.

    Many thanks!

Of course, I accept that. But a quick step by step for that particular problem can often be more helpful about process than wading through a large bunch of words. No matter. I'll ask elsewhere.

No worries SG. After looking around, I see that the recovery console is not given to easy step-by-step instructions

The method I used, using 2 PCs, is quick and works fine.
