    Default CPU Laptop-Desktop.

Probably a silly question but I've never dissected a Notebook to see what the CPU's look like, but are they interchangeable from Notebook to Desktop and visa versa?

    Not normally.

The shape etc is the same, they aren't some space age microchip, but they are designed very differently.

The two main things different from desktop chips, are minimized power usage and less heat created by the CPU.

Obviously at the expense of both those things, is the power of the CPU. Which is why you get better value for money with a desktop PC.

Putting a laptop processor into a desktop is very silly, the other way round, and you will end up with a monster of a laptop that will probably have an overheating problem in summer.

In short, no. Unless we are talking about the four letter word
