Question Unable to install new hardware

Everytime I try to install new hardware on my computer that requires a USB connection I am having trouble. The "found new hardware" wizard identifies that we have new hardware to install. But when it tries to install it, an error comes up. "There was a problem installing your hardware - An error occured during the installation of the device - the datais invalid"
"Does anyone know if there is an easy fix for this? Isi t our USB connection??? Please help.
