Default Poor signal from Dlink USB Wireless Adapter.

I recently got a Dlink 54mbps USB Wireless Adapter (DWL-G122) to reduce my mess of cables. Recently my router was connected via ethernet.

I do a bit of online gaming and on Battlefield 2 for instance every 30 seconds my ping spikes to 99999999999999999 for about 3-4 seconds which is s***ting me off big time.

Is there any fix to this problem or did I buy a rubbish product? What solutions are there (aside from going back to using the ethernet cable)?

I doubt if the echo time would be quite that long. Numbers like that look more like arithmetic errors in the system. If there is something happening every 30 seconds which causes a 3-4 second dropout, I'd look to see what that something is.

I think you'll find that wired Ethernet is always quicker than wireless.

Wired currently is better than wireless, both in speed and reliability.

What is the signal strength like with the USB adaptor, if its weak it will have more connection problems.
Update / Upgrades = Replace old bugs with new ones.

Hey the signal strength is usually "very good" (4/5). Often however the signal starts randomly fluctuating going from 1/5 to 3/5. My modem + router is currently upstairs, I'm thinking of moving it downstairs, maybe I'd get a more reliable signal.
