    Default That darn GRUB:

Why is it with some installs all the OS's on a box are detected and shown on the start menu. But most times at the end of an install "bootloader is looking for other operating systems" and all we get is the OS just installed ?

I presume you mean other Linux distro's? I don't know but it seems to be a fact of life - just find the old /boot/grub/menu.lst from the appropriate partition then copy the relevant parts to the new /boot/grub/menu.lst (not a big job).
