Thread: CD rom drive

    Default CD rom drive

    My CD rom drive suddenly disappear/not accessible from explorer & My computer. It was working before and nothing changed as far as I know. Is there any way to bring it back or troubleshoot what is wrong? thanks for advicing!

    2 things you could try. Go to control panel/system and hit the device manager tab. Click the + sign on CD ROM and see if it shows. If it is there click on it and then click on properties at the bottom of the dialogue box. It should show you in device status what is happening. Secondly you could go to control panel/add new hardware and let Windows search and auto detect it. If the driver has been wiped by accident you may need your CD to re-install it.

    Default Re: CD rom drive do u install a cd driver off a cd without a cd drive? if u get stuck, boot up with boot disk (assuming u r using windows}and chose option (sorry a little rusty here) 'boot with cd rom support' this will load stock windows cd drivers back in.
