I have just done an update and received no errors.
What are the errors that are recorded in your even viewer?

Well, there were 2 updates for XP, 933360 (DST update) and 939683 (WMP 11 hotfix).

I dont use Vista, so didnt get the same updates as you.

Does that update appear in Add/remove programs, or whatever Vista has?

I would get it manually, and see if that works.

In my case, the usual automatic notification downloaded the updates but did not install them when told to. It just disappeared. I used the Microsoft Update process and that worked. XP Pro, not Vista.

mine installed fine, running vista 32bit
I believe no problem is so large or so difficult that it can't be blamed on someone else.
