TEoR could probably answer that although I would have said that IT support was the equivalent of sending someone from the IT dept to fix your computer and the other two were who you rang if you had a problem and they 'might" be able to sort it over the phone.
Not much, besides blaming the user/caller for the problems they're having.
And not actually fixing the problem.
Helpdesk means you answer the phone.
Desktop support and IT support is the same thing. Theres level 1 - answer phone, level 2 - go to PCs and fix problem, level 3 - go to servers and fix problem.
Basically.
Used to be 1st tier was Helpdesk, 2nd tier desktop support, 3rd tier was IT engineers, so suppose you could call it IT support.
