I assume this is the one built into XP???

Simple! click on the drive in the drive window and select defrag!

Yes it is XP. Excuse my ignorance but where do I find the 'Drive Window'?

Click on "MY COMPUTER, and they will show up as drives, usually starting at "C" and maybe if you have other hdds, you'll see "D", "E"...etc.

Don't bother trying to defrag the optical drives, they won't allow it anyway.

It's best to run defrag in Safe Mode to get the stuff that's not running then all cleaned up too.

If you don't use Safe Mode, then you'll get things that cannot be defragged shown in the analysis screen.

Hopefully you are using "CLASSIC" view to run defrag....you will actually have better ability to work it out that way.

Thankyou Surferjoe. I had to go into "Partition Magic" from the drop down menu to find DD but all good now. Cheers

Are you not using the Disk Defragger that is in XP? (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter)

Attached file: Defrag.jpg (88 KB) (where the C,D and Storage (G) drives are)
