16 year olds should not object to their behaviour being guided by 8 year olds.

If you think you're so mature to vote, drink, f*** etc then you're too over-imbibed to think, let alone proffer a sane opinion to parliment.

Grow up another twenty years, then let us hear what you think.
I don't know where you get off questioning my ability to "proffer a sane opinion to parliament." Can you even tell me what a sane opinion is? One that agrees with yours?

A lady once wrote into the Dominion Post calling the Labour Government Nazi's because they were taking our silver coins and replacing them with cheap imitation silver ones.

Not only was the Reserve Bank responsible for the change, but of course the old coins were not silver.

    Yet this lady can vote.

And you call my opinion insane.

Let call things as they are. You think because of my age (17) and my username that I'm an arrogant immature idiot. I think I still have a lot to learn, but consider my self well-informed, having been reading the paper since I was 12 and a lot of books.

I will accept that I do not represent all youth, probably not even a majority, but I hope that a change like this will encourage more involvement in politics and issues that affect us.

Oh come on. What was the big issue at last years election? Tax cuts. Seems like it wasn't just teenagers that cared about getting money.

NOTE: I'm not saying I'm against tax cuts, just trying to disprove this point.
Some people believed that tax cuts would improve our countries well-being in the long run - and I have no problem with that opinion. This is a democracy after all.

Based on that, I for one are quite happy that you don't get a say in these things.
