How many extensions do you have? Have you tried running Firefox in its Safe Mode? Incompatible extensions can cause problems. What other changes have you made to Firefox since this problem?

Did you try running Firefox in its Safe Mode? The next thing would be to uninstall the Metaproducts Download Express and see if that helps.

    Question Re: Firefox problems:

Also firefox will not bring up the login page (Internet Explorer does): https://login.yahoo.com/config/login...ies.yahoo.com/

    Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at login.yahoo.com.

    * Check the address for typing errors such as
    ww.example.com instead of
    www.example.com

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

    Question Re: Firefox problems:

I haven't changed anything and now I can't get to https://www.nbnz.co.nz/online/online.../asp/login.asp either. So back to IE!

Just checking: in Tools->Options->Advanced->Encryption, you have both SSL and TLS checked?
