    Default NiMH rechargeables

    Hi,

I use 2 x Energizer AA NiMH 2500mAh rechargeables in my digital camera. If I don't use the camera for several days the batteries go flat. Is this normal for NiMH rechargeables? Do higher mAh rechargeables have longer life?

Are there better alternatives to NiMH's apart from Lithium batteries?

Its not the batteries, Its the camera, I heard that once a digital camera left unattended sucked the life right out of litter of puppies, a retired couple and a cat.

higher mAh batties will have a longer life, But the difference wont be enough to notice, they will still be flat in a few days time.

Thanks Metla. So, if it's the camera that drains the batteries, then Lithiums will go the same way?

Haven't found that with my Sony ... the infoLithium batteries last for weeks and weeks in the camera without discharging. However, these are Sony's own batteries, not "off-the-shelf" ones

My Energizer batteries stay in my camera (Genius) for months at a time maybe and I can still use them for a day or two when i et the camera out. Maybe its just some cameras/models.

We don't have any problem with a Canon Powershot and Kodak Easyshare. NiMh batteries stay OK for weeks. Try googling your camera and look for user reviews - hopefully it is not an inherent fault and can be fixed via the warranty.

We use the orange rechargable nimhs. Whatever brand that is..........
They last ages in the camera.

You do ensure the camera is off?? When you use the camera do you use the viewfinder or the LCD screen? The LCD screen sucks more juice. A lot more.

The problem with rechargable AAs is that it only takes 1 of them to go bad and the camera stops. You could try substituting each one to see which one is losing charge. Eveready AA Lithiums are a good back-up as they are half the weight of NiMH
