Default HJT - random IE popups in FF

Whenever i open firefox, an internet explorer popup appears for poker, american green card etc.
These popups also appear when I use internet explorer (rarely), or when I switch browsing engines in FF.
I've done virus and adware scans.

    Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Run HJT again ( close browser/s), tick these entries and tick fix checked.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

    4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background - run this manually.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [help locks trust jugs] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\pile noun help locks\CdromLocks.exe - this maybe spyware.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin\jusched.exe" - uninstall this and get the update from here

    And then install a firewall.

Just download and run this little program (Shoot the Messenger) and it will disable Messenger if it hasn't been already.

Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services. Using this you can disable numerous services which can make your PC more secure and faster because of the released memory. Do a google on Windows XP services and don't disable any you are unsure of otherwise you will find features not working. Just do a few at a time so you can check to see if everything is working ok.

I'm glad I'm not the only one getting these random popups. They have just started since the weekend for me.

    As Speedy says, jermsie -

    Install a firewall.
    It'll help next time.
