    Default Reinstall Win 2K

Hi......I want to try and reformat for the first time, is there a guide for reformatting and reinstalling Win 2000 on this site. I would also like to hear an opinion or two on whether it is worth putting XP Pro on or just sticking with 2000.
    Thanks in advance, Mark

With your specs, XP probably won't be much slower than 2000, and it does have a few features that are a bit better than 2000. If you don't like the default theme, you can easily set it to the classic theme (that is my preferred option)

With all stuff backed up .. u just boot with the win2k CD .. u can let it format and then it installs.. or u can install at diff folder for a dual boot. I personally dont like the latter.

why bother wasteing $$$ buying a OS that basicly dosn't do anything more than what your os does.

you can simply upgrade some of the items. don't forget to add the msconfig from XP.
    Tweak it till it breaks

Unless he already has an XP disk, of course.

What about a legal XP key?

You can use any CD to install it... as long as the key is legal

Well what do you use your computer for?
Gaming has never been 2k's strong point with older games, but for plain office productivity and internet browsing, 2k is more than adequate.

It's not used for gaming, some video editing and music is about the hardest it works. So it sounds like 2000 is ok and I'll save some $, I have an old xp disc but I think it's not legit so I couldn't update the thing anyway.
