Broadband contract or non contract

Not getting at the mo, but just to be prepared if its more conv to free up the line and such.

For contract based its free modem and connection $200 free.

For non contract I lose those $200 incentives.

I could get a contract and if I change or just cancel I can fork out the penalty fee, least I saved the $100 connection fee and keep $100 modem (or modem upgrade offer if available).

Would you consider like a cheaper plan of say 1GB and once that's used up just resort back to modem speed? It would be the no worst than dialup I gather but free's up the phoneline. I can just be more careful what I use, if I need to do downloads I do it at the start of the billing cycle.

Does this make sense?

What?

Once you get used to broadband its rather a pain being slowed if you go over your limit, and often the speed is worse than dialup when they do that. SO no, I wouldn' consider a small adat limit.

As for contracts and free adsl modems, you thinking of joining Xtra?

Not Xtra but many ISPs provide free connection and modem, with plans of say 1GB or 2GB, I am not really interested in the traffic managed plans or any plans at $50, pref lesser.

What about if you already have a broadband connection and modem?
I queried Impulse and they want $25 just to transfer you from current ISP to them.
What do xtra and the others do if you don't want their modem and you already have a connection. Do any of them offering "free", give you a credit ?

I know Orcon and they say if ya already a BB client, they give ya 2 free months free credit (or free access).
