Default Where is My Device Manager?

I have lost my sound as well as my print spooler as well as ADD HARDWARE (in the control panel) and while looking for the appropriate Drivers for my sound I went to the Device Manager and there is nothing there either. Any idea what might be wrong? I have kids and who knows what they have dragged into the machine. I am running XP.

    Thanks for all the help.

get your xp cd handy then stuff it in.......if it tries to autorun just kill off whatever pops up then goto startbutton/run and type in

    sfc /scannow

    then tap enter

ouch... that would work if I had an XP CD. Machine came pre-installed with no CD. I tried running without the CD and it didn't return any errors nor did it try to make any corrections.
