    Red face firewall software

    hey peeps,

    Whats the cheapest of best value for money firewall software. Or, what are people out there using and recommend please.

    Are there freeware firewall program?

    Zone Alarm or Kerio are two of the better free ones. I use Kerio as I found it easier to configure for my LAN. Works even after expiry except for little reiminder box: not a big hassle.

    I find Guarddog is very good for Linux. It is free and easy to configure.
    In addition, there is an excellent handbook that I saved to a CD.

    I think he was referring to Windows firewalls.
    Incidentally, I don't use one (in linux) as I don't see the need

    For the windows computers I administer, all use Outpost Pro

    At home I don't use a firewall as I'm behind a NAT router (an old Dlink 802.11b). There is only one computer on the network, so am not worried about other machine bringing in nasties. If I do get another machine on the network (say a colleague is visiting), I'll just turn on PC-Cillin's 2006 firewall.
