I want to courier my old computer to someone in NZ, i'm just wondering where can I get a box that has the support(foam etc) to keep the PC safe. It's the monitor and tower i have to post. What courier company would u recommend and how much does it cost to courier a normal pc with a 17inch crt monitor inside nz approximately? And the courier company come to my house and pick up the computer right?

No courier will collect unless you have an account with them. You have to take it to them.
Cheapest would be Posthaste. It all depends on the distance it is going.

If you don't have the original boxes you could try asking a computer shop if they have any spare or you'll just have to find one big enough and pack it with plenty of polystyrene and sponge so its safe.

I've had couriers collect from my doorstep without an account,

Admittedly, that was a while ago, so things may have changed. (And I don't remember which firms, sorry)
There may be different rules for businesses & private jobs.

If you're asking a computer shop for a box, ask also which firm/s they use..

    .
Rubbish! I regularly use couriers from several different companies. I have no account with any of them. Just pay the driver.

The whole point in useing a courier is their door to door service.

Really? They must like you, I've never been able to get them to do that - in Auckland that is, never even tried here.

When i was using couriers, (havent for a while) we never had an account, (business or private ) and they just came to the door and we would pay the driver, but this was usually organised via a phone call, and we bacame regular customers i guess, and we knew the courier person well in the end, so no probs.

That was nz couriers. found the other firms not as helpful. so we stuck to the same people, and our items were not as big as computers, but it didnt seem to matter.

Just been through this exercise recently. Yes, some couriers will pick up without an account; others won't.

Either way, reconsider sending the monitor - it's too costly compared to its value (assuming it's a CRT).
