Default Can you slipstream XP SP2 with newer updates

Is it possible to slipstream an XP CD with newer updates that I have on my computer.

I know how to do a slipstream of XP SP2, but I'm wondering since it's been quite a while since SP2 was released, whether I could also include the updates that I have got up to now. I also know how to include additional drivers, just not the update side of things, anyone know?

I'm thinking of reinstalling my Windows and I would hate to have to update from when SP2 was released.

    Cheers,

    KK

I think thats what a program called Nlite lets you do.

    And what Autopatcher, does already.

    Hey Speedy,

Thanks for that, I had actually heard of AutoPatcher, years ago, probably when I was researching how to slipstream with drivers, it just never came to mind.

I'll give them a go and see if it works or not.

    Cheers,

Autopatcher is one massive file (around 150mb or so, last time I looked).

    It maybe bigger now!

It has a few extras in it, with most of the updates. BUT, I dont think this includes drivers of any kind. And, its a bit hard to find a download site now!

Nlite, on the other hand, lets u add drivers / updates.

And also lets u untick programs etc, that you dont want to install (With 2k / XP +). So, the install will be a lot less than the 1.5 GB XP installs.

I was talking to someone last night who said that the latest version of nLite will have the latest Windows updates included. You can then slipstream it with your SP2 to create a customised Windows install.

I think Autopatcher updates every month with the updates.

Not Nlite. Nlite is smaller (way smaller - 1.45mb ), and lets u add drivers / updates etc.

And gives u the option of unticking services / programs etc. To make the install smaller (than 1.5 GB).

Before you burn whatever you've added/deleted to a cd.

    Autopatcher doesn't.

Hmmm... I must have got it wrong then. Or he told me lies.

nLite allows you to slipstream the updates though, if you already downloaded and saved them.

    1. nLite allows you to customize your installation of Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows 2003. You can integrate service packs and hotfixes from Microsoft directly into your windows distribution files without having to re-download and install them every time you need to re-install windows.

Thats right Nlite does let u do that... But its not part of the install.

You have to add the updates / drivers / whatever yourself. Then it creates an ISO (I think. Ihavent used it for a while, it may have changed)!

You just have to make sure you dont untick something, that'll screw the install up, if u do a clean install (which can happen)!

Whereas Autopatcher, when u install it, its got all the updates in it (since its 150mb+, I would hope so)!
