No signal from Sky digital since 7 o'clock tonight (Thursday).
My son's is the same.
Can't imagine it's localised, must be the whole of NZ.
Anybody getting any channels?

No signal either here in Waipawa
Mine doesn't work either (Wellington Region) - tried to call - lines are all busy.
yeah same, lines are so busy. living here for 2 and a half years now and this is the first
Down in Auckland too. I get the message "call cannot be connected due to overloading" when phoning them, and their website is crawling too.
Martians ate the satellite?
don't you just hate that, especially when your favourite programs on
Mrs. Greg here - no Sky in Pakuranga either. Mr. Greg will have more motivation to cook this lovely dinner now anyway![]()
Bugger the cancer. I'm suffering from terminal inertia.
No Sky Tv in christchurch either something major has gone wrong somewhere.
No SKY in Rotorua. Just the rain fade message. On a clear starry night.
Jack GOF.
Looks suspiciously like the satellite could be out, it was on a backup system processor.........according to the knowledgeable ones over at "nz.tech" newsgroup tonight.
Anyone for Canasta?
brig
No sky here either.....
maybe a decoder would help?![]()
Haha! Call for support on a night like tonight and you just might score a free one!
No Sky here on the lovely West Coast either - looks like DVD's for me toniteAnd yes - its not rain fade....
Not here either - Sky recently has been c **p - mostly due to the introduction of My Sky, the software has produced endless "listings temp unavailable" messages which has completely ruined my ability to preprogramme my viewing.
Perhaps an inducement to get MySky - no way Hoosay.
All I want from Sky is what I pay for and I'm not getting it.
If the satellite is kaput then it is certainly an interesting conundrum. Were they not currently doing a rollout of new dishes (or the receiver part of the dish) to receive stuff for MySky? I guess they'll have to accelerate that.
I've just discovered a "limitation" of MySky. You can't play back recorded programs without a sat signal. A message to that effect appears when I try to do so. Bugger!!
No Sky here in Southland, none at my friends in West Auckland.
What I hate is that stupid message: "Rain Fade". Rain? Where? Siberia? Why don't they just pu a real message up - tech tripped over cable, satellite shot down or whatever...
Grrrrrrr.
Wasn't the satelitte they use (OptusB1) scheduled to be replaced last year? The satelitte was launched in 1992 so it's real old anyway.
Hah, satelitte fell down there. Currently reassembling pieces....
Aye, and they should also stick up a basic 10kb static page on skytv.co.nz that says "Yes we know there are problems" for all the people who don't know how to search for PC World forums posts...
Sky are currently replacing all LNBS (low Noise Blocks) on all existing dishes for the new my sky service, the lnb is the grey looking box type thing with a circular piece at one end that points to the dish to receive your signal.
So is the new signal off a different sat? I.e. if tonight's outage is due to OptusB1 falling over, then will replacing EVERYONE's LNB sort if out?
Sigh - guess its time to hook the old analogue aerial up again - back to TV 1,2, & 3....
I wonder if sky will refund us for the time that we have no service or will we just have to grin and bare it as in previous occassions.
No signal in Napier either!!
Better be up for Amercian Chopper series!

I just rung sky and got a recorded message that says we are currently experienceing technical difficulties and they say for further information go to the sky website so i did that and the wesite is down as well so much for referring people to that.
We get Sky through Saturn TV and the message we got here in ChCh was that snow was the problem. Now, I know it's been pretty cool lately, but snow in March? Perhaps it's global warming? Or climate change?
I just hope it's up in time to see the Crusaders crush the 'Canes on Sat night.

Bah! Why bother with Sky?
Nothing like a good book and a nice mug of Hot Choccy to keep the brain juices flowing.

I hope you will all be putting in for refunds as well as something for the suffering you've had to endure.
Life is about give and take.
Shame some people take take take.
I wouldn't call it suffering. Just an inconvenience.
You would think that Sky would have a back up system in place in situations like this.

The purpose of life is to fight maturity.
Without wading though this site, what does a virtual view from Optus B1 prove? Other sites are saying that the satellite is past repair - gone for good.
http://www.apsattv.com/
From SkyTV Website:
With the temporary loss of the Optus satellite we have made SKY Sport temporarily available “free to air” on our UHF network. To be able to access it you will need to tune your TV set to the SKY Sport channel
How to Tune into SKY Sport
SKY Transmits on the UHF band in most City and provincial centers.
Turn your television on.
- On your remote control, press the button you have chosen for SKY Sport (we suggest 8, which is probably available).
- Open the control panel on your television.
- Press the 'pre-set/tuning' button. (Refer to your television manual if you have one available)
- Start tuning by pressing + (up) on the tuning control. (Remember, you will find SKY on the UHF band).
- When you have found SKY Sport press the 'pre-set/memory' button again to lock the channel into the number you have chosen on your remote. For best reception a UHF is usually required if you have no UHF antenna the results are likely to be a grainy quality picture or no picture at all
I've learned that you have MySky you can playback previously recorded programs by switching to channel 999. Otherwise you get a message that you can't playback 'cos the satellite is unavailable.
