Question Changing the way .dat files open

    Hi

I have a computer here running WinMe that has all its .dat files changed to open with kodac imagining. Is this going to cause problems do you think.
    Cheers

Shouldn't think so. But you can un-associate it if you want from that application by going into Folder Options/File Types or change it to something like Notepad.
Bugger the cancer. I'm suffering from terminal inertia.

Considering user.dat and system.dat are the 2 files that make up your registry, Yes they will cause major issues if accidentally opened and edited.
Though Im not sure how a kodac app would do this.

no worries about changing anything as they will not open in that app but it gave me a surprise to see the kodac icon combined with .dat and I wondered if it would have any effect.

Thanks for the quick replies - this machine is giving me lots of headaches.

If the files themselves are .dat then I wouldn't worry. IIRC the only files that would change the registry are .key (executable registry files)

Well everything seems to be running okay - fingers crossed here that something else doesn't crop up. My biggest headache seems to have been caused by EZ Amour antivirus - not the first I have had this kind of headache I think
Thanks again team - you're tops
    Cheers
