Unhappy Windows won't boot plz help

Ok, my old computer's motherboard got fryed so I bought a new one and put everything from the old computer into the new one (graphics card, HD, RAM, etc.). On my old computer I ran Windows XP, but when I booted it kept going in a loop. The new motherboard came with the Linspire OS (a linux distribution) so I installed that. Now Linspire works and when I boot up it brings up a menu with Linspire and Windows XP on it asking which OS to boot, but when i select Windows it brings up that screen that says Start Windows Normally, Safe Mode, etc. when I select one (any of them) it flashes the Windows startup splash image thing then reboots itself. I can't use any of my games or apps and I'm forced to use this linux POS. Please help me out if you can

THe new mainboard must have a different chipset to the dead one.
What you will need to do to get WinXP up and running again is boot off the WinXP CD and run a Repair Install.
This will reinstall WinXP without losing any of your data / settings.

    No.

Windows doesn't start because it doesn't recognise the new motherboard. It can't work. You really need a clean installation. There will be many files in that installation which apply to the old motherboard. There will be nmany files on the installation CD which will apply to the new motherboard. The installation provcedure sorts all that out, and bulds a version of the OS which will work on that specific computer, with that motherboard, and the particular peripherals you have on it.

Linspire, like all Linux distributions is very clever and can do many things. If it could do that, Bill would be very cross. He would be very lawyers cross.

Linux is fine as an OS, but it won't run CSS, Q4, or FEAR w/o that WINE thing

    On topic-
If I do that clean install, where do I get a Windows install disk? do I have to buy a new one?

Any CD should be fine. But you need your own, unique, registration code.

If you've got a System Recover CD for that computer, it might not work, because you have changed the motherboard. and it might be tied to the one the manufacturer installed. It will almost certainly wipe the hard disk if it does work ... system recovery CDs usually do that.

If the version on the hard disk disk worked, it was presumably legal. If you haven't got the registration number (on a sticker on the side of the case?) you have problems.

If you can find a full XP disk (AC MIcrosoft one, not a manufacturers system recovery one) you should be able to do a System Repair, as Cyabro suggested.
