    Default Stand-alone divx/xvid players

Anyone know much about these or have had any experience using them?

Where to buy them? Good brands/models? And crap ones too?

    Cheers

I've got a philips DVD player that plays DivX & XviD. It works well, but you can probably find something cheaper.

Modded xbox running XBMC. I can't recall a filetype I have not been able to play.

    It's fantastic.

Could somebody please explain what a "modded" xbox is?
    What exactly is/are the modifications?
    Easy to do?

Do you have to have a modded xbox to play divx/xvids or will a normal one do the business?

A normal xbox isn't much use - it can't even play mp3s. You will have to find someone willing to sell & install a mod chip for you, then you can install XBMC & play anything. You will probably want to upgrade the hard drive too.
