    Default No Association Problem

Everytime I try to run a program this message comes up, "The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

What "program" are you trying to run? Sounds like you are trying to open a file and WIndows does not know its extension - you need to go into Foler options and tell it what program opens that particular extension.

Thank You for your help, But I guess I did not describe the problem in enough detail. As I said earlier, the associations with the short-cuts give the error message as discribed. But all icons (program short-cuts, program links i.e. *.lnk) have reverted to the generic windows icons with the exceptions of My Computer, My Documents, Internet Explorer, Recycle Bin, and My Network Places. Any ideas of what might have caused this problem and/or solutions ?

Try adding the .lnk extension to the shortcuts by renaming them. Failing that, right click on one of the shortcuts, and check to see where the 'Target' leads to on the computer and create a new shortcut from that target. If there is no target, try to locate the original file and create a new shortcut from that.
