    Default Old system files

Older puter running W98 with 3.5 GB folder of old system files on a 10 GB hdd.
They have been there 9 months.
Can they be deleted ? Or how could they be treated to isolate them to see if they are being
    accessed.

Whats the folder called? If it is located within the Windows main folder, leave it alone.
    If not, delete them.

The lady is running out of HD space. If we could isolate it for a while we would know if it was safe to delete it.
