    Default Control Panel

    I am running XP SP2

Whenever I try to open the control panel, I get a "not responding" message and i have to try several times to get it to open, the same can often happen with my computer. I have done a reload of XP but this did not fix the problem the. Also the add & remove programs has disappeared from the classic view.

    Any thoughts?

Thanks for the suggestion, I ran it as suggested. It checked the system but has not fixed the problem.

I clicked on control panel from my Computer and again got the message "not responding". Then i ran it from start and it opened but when I tried to access it, I again got not responding. The classic view still does not show add and remove programs. If I log in in another users name, the add and remove programs does show up in the classic view, however I still got the not responding message the first time.

    Any more thoughts

When you re-iinstalled XP did you have a wiped clean HD? Maybe you've got some bit of crudware elsewhere on the HD. Have you done a thorough virus/malware scan? That'd be my next thing. HTH............m

Do you have TweakUI on your system, if so, there are tweaks within that can cause it to seem as if your system is faulty.
