    Exclamation LOT OF HELP NEEDED!!!!!!

yesterday i was hit by a virus and norton antivirus wouldnt stop notifying me on it so i used the scan for viruses option to delete the file but there was no luck. so i manually deleted the virus but for some reason after restarting the computer i tried opening msn messenger and several other programs and none of them will open. it just gives the error message : "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel."
if anyone can help with this problem i'd be very greatfull. and if you can help could you e-mail me a step by step guide on how to fix this problem to alwyn_2005@hotmail.co.uk
