    Default Networking Question

System: Win 200 Server (P4), Win XP Pro (workstation), PIII machine (workstation), Win XP Office

Layout: One Domain, One Server, multiple workstations

Group (in question): STUDENTS (local profiles)

The STUDENTS group has limited permissions, but in their MY COMPUTER they can see their mapped home drives, and the local CD ROM. BUT the Floppy Drive and C:\ drive were hidden.

    PROBLEM:
The STUDENTS group cannot see the ALL USERS profile on the local machine - which is where Win XP Office is stored.

How can acccess to this profile be added to the STUDENTS group so that they can get to the Office software.

    I Have Already Tried:
copying Shortcuts of the Office software to the all users profile,
sharing the All USers profile folder and giving the STUDENTS group access.
I have looked through screens of Group Policy settings on the server - maybe I missed the one I need?

Is there another (easier) way to grant access to Office, preferably from the local machine - but anything considered

    cheers

Just a guess here but if the C:\ drive is hidden then all users is also hidden. If you intend to have the C:\ drive hidden then maybe you should run office from the server.

    I Have Already Tried:
copying Shortcuts of the Office software to the all users profile,

Office installs the shortcuts to the all users profile by default so if not there after the install then permission are out somewhere.

Can't be much more help as I'm still getting my head around server 2003!

Maybe some more info on how the student group/policy setup?
