Here's an interesting one for you. I recently tried installing Windows 2000 on my friends machine, a Celeron 433 with 64Mb of RAM. He originally had win98, so I tried the upgrade option first. All went well, it installed, the correct drivers were located and loaded. However, upon restarting the machine, I noticed that the screen had reset to a very low colour depth and resolution. A bit more investigation and I found that the drivers I had loaded had disappeared! I tried reloading them once more, everything went fine, no errors, but upon restart, they had once again disappeared. Thinking it might have something to do with the upgrade from Windows 98, I formatted the hard drive and tried installing from scratch - exactly the same problem occured.

I can't think of anything that could cause this problem - any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this same problem?
