    Default Recycle Bin

We have mistakenly deleted some required files. I tried to reinstall these from the Recycle Bin but cannot find it? We are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002. I have not been able to locate our system disc so am a bit stuck. Does my system have a recycle bin which I could recycle them out of if so where do I find it and if not what can I do to reinstall these files? Thanks for your help!! Dave.

Try system restore. Click /start/all programs/Accessories/system tools/system restore and pick a day before you deleted the files.
Also have a look in your windows folder for a folder called 1386 which is all of the installation files.
If you have this you can go to start run and enter sfc /scannow there is a space after sfc .
this will run the windows file checker.

Hey, thanks alot for your help. I have stupidly not set a restore date so it just goes to today's date. I could not find the file 1386 in Windows but tried to run scannow anyway but keep getting the message to load the XP Home Edition CD Rom which of-course I should of put in a safe place for such an ocassion!

I'm not sure, my daughter was trying to get rid of her MSN Messenger because I got sick of her friends popping up everytime I went on line. It looks as though she went to search, MSN, and starting deleting everything in there! I have found the File Scavenger web site and I am downloading the free trial version to see if it can help me. Thanks alot for your help.

Can you not see the recycle bin in Windows Explorer (Windows key+E)?
