    Default S-ATA & P-ATA

This MB - ASUS P5GD1 Pro has only one IDE connector and 4 Serial ATA connectors. I've got a SATA HDD and it is connected to SATA1. The manual says that the IDE is for a HDD as master and/or another HDD or optical device as slave.

Now, I am connecting my CDROM drive to the slave connector but, where shall I connect my CDRW drive? Can I connect it to the Master connector of the IDE cable? Or, can I connect it to one of the SATA connectors?

    Please advise.

    Cheers

mikebartnz, you mean connect it to the Master of the IDE cable? But the manual says that the Master is for HDD!

Yes the master of the IDE. SATA and IDE CDWriters don't reallly mix. Your HD is on the SATA so it doesn't matter that the master IDE is taken up by the CDWriter.
