    Default use physical memory first

is there a way to make the computer use it's physical memory first before starting to get into pagefile?

i'm running win2k and right now there's 181/375Mb of physical ram still free
but pagefile is using around 200/511Mb

can't the system use till ther's like 10Mb of physical ram left before using page file?

or would using the phy ram to max make comp slower?

With win 98 u can do it by putting

There is a registry hack to force XP to use all available memory before using the pagefile, but i can't find it.
Will post back when I do

If you disable the pagefile XP creates one by itself unfortunately in my experience...

1.5GB RAM - disabled page files - XP created a 1.5GB page file in C:\

    Grrr...

You just have to let W2k/XP do its own thing in managing memory, it's not like Win98.

Two references have been added to the bottom of FAQ #37, which explain the way virtual memory works, and why there will always be a substantial page file.
