Default Using a laptop in a vehicle

Is it ok to use a laptop to play a dvd movie in a moving vehicle? Or is the vibrations going to damage the dvd or the laser in the dvd drive?

It should be fine. As long as you're not off-roading (that might be a bit rough) you should be alright.

Wouldn't think so if the roads are ok, the crash will probably do some harm though.

Assuming that it will be an ankle-biter in the back seat who will be watching said movie, there is a reasonable chance that they will barf into the keyboard.

The mixed-motion signals to their brain/eyes will be recording one set of movements and their backside/inner ear another.

Could be a nasty mix on your average NZ road. :O

Alright on a US freeway or German autobahn though. :|

    Cheers

Although some people (Myself included) are fine reading or using the likes of a Laptop in a moving Vehicle.

I run everything from my laptop... Music, DVD's...

You should be fine but battery life may be a bit of an issue, so slow your CPU down as much as you can :-)

It may be best to sit it on a layer of foam plastic or other spongy material. This would help absorb road vibration, but be sure it does not block an air vent (as with laptop computers).
