[pre]Probably just about as reliable too,
in this world of lost connections. In fact
    with PF1 delivering 404's last night, I
thought I'd have to use a skinnum to
    deliver this week's WFTWE.[/pre]

But of course there is an Internet RFC covering the use of "Avian Carriers". I believe there was a successful test made recently.

Did it come under the general heading of - "read, mark, and inwardly digest".

That is a fairly old protocol, and doesn't have an ISO number

RFC1149 has been revised to RFC2549 . Some Norwegians did a test.

Probably due to ne(s)t congestion, the middle link went unserviceable.
In the interim, try RFC2549 rev. a as a substitute.
