    Default CD-ROM and HDD screws.

Can someone please tell me the details (size, thread, etc) of those screws commonly used in securing the CD-ROM and HDD into the case?

There are at least 2 sizes used to my knowledge, not just one.
Check on the HDD makers page for details, they should be stated.

If you need screws, get a $2 packet of "assorted" PC screws from DSE, they should contain the entire range. Cat H1675

This site here has lots of info about computer screws.

And for all those wanna-be geeks, you can test your screw knowledge with this short quiz

One important point: CD and DVD drives can be damaged by screws which are too long. Screws which go in too far can jam the slide. If they are much too long they can cause permanent damage.
