Actually, the news was delivered directly to my desktop via the KDE News Kicker. This article came from Slashdot

Chill.
Just spent an hour or so with the demo.
This is the return of UNREAL,plays much better then ut2003,reminds me of the original UT, which is good, actually, its excellent.
Had a deathmatch on JSG servers, managed to get one kill inbetween dieing 25 times or so in rapid succesion.
Thumbs up so far.

Argggh i had to downloaded it twice from the international servers (a 4 hour download each) the first file i got was corrupted! I checked JSG server but it wasn't on there as of early yesterday. Oh well..
Its definately an improvement on UT2003. I think it even runs smoother on my MX440.!!!! I like that onslaught game type thats definately fun.
I played this at the weekend at my Lan and it is great. I hosted a game with 10 people and max bots (32) making up the numbers and it ran like a dream with everything turned up on my machine (2.4ghz P4c with 1 gig ram). The new "onslaught" game type is fantastic and the vehicles made for a real challenge. It plays more like the original UT (a good thing) than 2003 and on the high end Radeons and FX5900s it is a real looker.
This is going to be one of those games which will encourage people to get broadband for definite. Now all we need is cheap flatrate 512k connections from somebody (anybody??) in the NZ telco scene.
Yes I always have faith in the JSG login. I'm grabbing Desert Combat patches, and ut2004 demo at 350kB/secThats about the only perk u can get with telecom ADSL. I'll miss it when we fully convert to woosh on the 24th
