    Thoroughly interesting, that is. Especially the DRM issue, and the one that mentions that.

    Highly recommended by me if you wish to remain above the plights of Microsoft. At least we don't have a DMCA in New Zealand yet.

    Very interesting. But the article about OepnOffice got me think about open source software like Open Office and Linux - if the code is freely available, what's to stop someone programming malicious code into an otherwise seemingly harmless version of Linux/Open Office?

    When it comes to the kernal, OpenOffice and other large software the process would not allow that to happen.

    Nothing. The problem would be in distributing the malware. Only an idiot would download Open Office, Gimp, or a kernel from anywhere other than the official sites, or their mirrors. There are MD5 signatures, and other ways of checking that what you get is exactly the authorized version.

    Of course, there are a lot of idiots on the Internet, but they deserve anything they get.
