    Default Setting environment variables

    How can you force XP to accept a change to the environment variables available in the SET command?

    I want to change the following;

    SET HOMEDRIVE=H:
    SET HOMEPATH=\
    SET APPDATA=H:\Application Data

    Checking with SET shows these have changed, however when another Command window is opened these changes are no longer there.

    Change the user profiles, alter the Outlook message store, modify the appropriate keys in the registry.

    The other suggestion will on access the temp file locations.

    Since any version of NT does not use an autoexec.bat file,
    to add or edit the environment variables on XP:

    Right click on My Computer
    Select Properties
    Click on the Advanced tab
    Click on the Environment Variables button
    From here you can change them for the system or just the current user.
