Default Search-Delete duplicated Excel text entries

    Hi

Have a list of spammers domains in Excel with several entries duplicated.
Is there an easy way to identify the duplications and remove the extra entries without examining EVERY cell?

    TIA

    Ron

    Sort the list
Then test for duplicates, using the column beside the sorted list:

    IF (A1=A2,"x","")

Copy this down the column, it assumes that your list starts at A1
Then sort the list again, include the new column, sort on the "x" (descending sort)

Delete the rows that have "x"

Continue to add entries and repeat above

And I hope someone has a simpler method as I have a need from time to time ...

Hi as an alternative have a look at Chip Pearsons site where he lists different ways for finding duplicates. See here.

Its a great site and I recommend bookmarking the topic list :-)

Here is one simple way of getting a unique list of records without resorting to formulas or code.

First, highlight the cells of interest and then go to Data -> Filter -> Advanced Filter. In the dialogue box that comes up select 'unique records only' and then choose whether you want to copy the unique values to a new column or to hide the duplicate entries within the highlighted cells and select ok.

That's it - you now have a unique listing!
