E.ric,I know you are clever, your pal S.B said so.So instead of walking to work and wasting time, sit down and write a better system.

You probably haven't set it up properly and it is waking up for an even such as data on the network (Wake up on LAN) or Keyboard (cat jumped on it), etc.

99% of problems are caused by people not setting things up properly and taking the simple option of blaming someone else.

In the last 3 years, I have NEVER been able to get a Linux system up and running, let alone installed. Tried on 2 different computers, and 3 different distros (RedHat6.2, Redhat 7.2, Slackware). All of them die halfway through installation.

    At least Windows installs properly.

Maybe i'm doing something wrong, or my computers simply hate Linux. (they were designed for Windows though)

What conditions is this standby under. You're not bumping the mouse or keyboard which is waking it up?

I would be interested to know what is happening as I have installed several Linux distros and three Red Hat ones and they have all installed better than any Windows install

No problems here. I've got different distributions running on 5 different computers here (i686's and i586's). I've also install GNU/Linux on about 10 different computers at an installfest without a problem. Someone else did have a problem with the installation locking up, but it seems uncommon.
