Well, I say "rooter", being brought up proper like. A "rowter" is a high speed machine tool.

I had been in NZ some time before I found out that 'Alice Park' was Ellis Park, that earports were airports, that the Masterton Golden Shares was Golden Shears, and now we hear all the time pair 2 pair file sharing, but that last may not register to NZ ears, or is that airs?

Then there are the extra vowels put in, even see 'known' spelt on this forum many times as 'knowen.

Then the ships that go across Cook Strait are 'fairies'..... and so on.

There I said I could go on and on.

I know, I know, English English accents are just as funny and eccentric, even more so because there are so many giving rise to much hilarity and mirth

    > Now, is it "noe-kee-a" or "noh-kee-a"?

An "expert" (know-all teenager ) informs me that it is "noh-ke-a" with the emphasis on the "noh".

    Anyone else agree?

More and more people are calling it a "rowter" as teachers don't seem to want to call it a "rooter" though in mathematics we haven't progressed to "square-rowts"... yet.
