    Default re --factory burn in

    Can somebody please tell me why when I turn off the computer the screen comes up with factory burn in. Also what is the life of a computer that is used about 3 .hours a day

    Id say you'll have LONG upgraded it before the parts die... Depends on what it is really, but should be a long time... Ive had a 486 until not too long ago (I sold it) and most of the parts were origional.. Id added a sound and network car, but other than that, it was all made in 94. Still works a treat!

    Apparently it's a monitor problem, not a PC problem.

    As to your 2nd question, it depends on the quality of the components, and the quality of the entire PC. Computers can last for a long time if you treat them nicely, but they won't alway be capable of doing the newest tricks on the market. You may have a PC from 1985 which still works, but you won't be able to buy applications for it in most cases.

    Some motherboards actually come with a jumper which you can set to factory burn in so I wonder if they may have not reset it but I don't think the PC would work properly if they hadn't. If it is under warranty I would check it out with them.
