Install on NTFS Partitions?

Im going home tonight to tryout Lycoris Desktop/LX, but dont have a spare dedicated HDD, so I was wondering if Linux can install on NTFS partitions or am I wasting my time with it. I know they can do FAT32, but Im not sure about NTFS. I've got over 7 gig free on a 11 Gig HDD!

Try it. If it can't do it, it will complain, very early in the process;-) I'm not sure that the later ones will install on a DOS partition, anyway ... it's quite a performance hit.

Will it let me then do a non-destructive re-size of my partitions? or am I gonna have to buy PM for that?

ranish and parted are free partitioners, which are well regarded .... I've just had a look for references, and found that you describe ranish as "kewl" on September 30. I thought my memory was poor.

That's destructive partitioning thou for Ranish AFAIK (2.40 was last time I used it). I want to keep all my sensitive data

Did you forget to defrag the MS partition before splitting it? That's the easiest way to lose data as far as I know. However, it seems that ranish (and parted, and fips) might not handle NTFS. Can you convert an NTFS partition back to FAT32 so you can split it?
