i have no idea if you can stop that in w2k or not but the other solution is to get a quiet floppy drive.
you could try putting a floppy in the drive .. it'll make those annoying things go away![]()
Yeah, I put a floppy in there... but it is still checking it, that's the annoying part, it takes a second or two to check, that's just a pain, surely I can stop it from whirring away.. It doesn't need to do it, so it shouldn't. HEELLLPPPP!
mine doesn't. sounds like you have a virus scanner installed perhaps?? or an old version of find fast?
I think this problem is due to a program or possibly Win2k caching folders and files for faster access off drives. Sometimes it caches the A: and always checks on it.
I can't remember the steps to stopping it as it was a while ago that I dealt with it. It could possibly be a registry tweak or removing/disabling a service.
