I have recently upgraded both my home and office PCs by from a P133 and P166 respectively, both with 32MB RAM, to Celeron 400 with 64 MB RAM
Both have shown major increase in speed although I believe that in both cases, especially the office PC, that the additional memory is the key factor
However, I'm puzzled by the Memory Manager figure displayed for Free Memory.
Prior to upgrade this used to start around 7MB and go rapidly downhill, especially with Word and Outlook Express.
Having added an additional 32MB it now starts at around 17MB - I would have expected a lot more.
My office PC now can show < 1MB with Word and Outlook express running although I'm happy with the performance
Mem Manager shows 64888 physical and the system has 'Leave Virtual Memory management to Windows'
Any explanations?
