Default Virus that attacks Norton Anti-virus

A friend of mine has been hit with a virus that now won't let him re-load Norton AV 2001.
Which virus is this (any ideas?) and is there a tool available to get rid of it. Searching Symantec's provided too many results that were meaningless...

    Paul,

It may be the recent Klez.H virus, check out this symantec doc:

There is a tool that you can download to check and get rid of this virus.

    Hope this helps :-)

It sounds like one of the Klez family of virus's.

The above link will give you additional links to both info about the virus and a link for the removal tool.
