OK, good to know. I have now sent an email to her Gmail account with a delivery and read receipt requested. It has been delivered, but that is not to say she can access it from her phone. It is now 11:40pm in UK, so I'm not expecting any sort of response till this evening, if at all.

Not everyone has email and you can still get on in life without one, neither my Mum or Sister and her husband have email and they still get everything they need in life just fine.

Absolutely right. However my niece does have a gmail address and we have exchanged emails in the past. I just don't know whether she has access via her phone.
