what happened to all the water powered cars ?
Back in the 70's or 80's ? ,there was a Kiwi who had a Holden powered by water only .
He supposedly sold the invention for many millions of $
Anyone remember this ? Possibly just bad reporters not fact checking at the time ?
There was also an Ak guy on the news 10-20 years ago who powered his Motorcycle with water . That may have been a scam , the reporters didnt check his motorbike for hidden petrol tanks :-)
Yes there's always a story about water powered cars....and the big nasty oil companies buy their silence and suppress it.
Husband used to work with a guy, who on retirement, or come to think of it, even before, was always working on his magic powered vehicles.
Husband used to tell him it was perpetual motion but he if still alive, is no doubt still working away in the shed.
These days "water" powered vehicles are these:

i suspect what they had made was fuel emulsion, ie combined water and fuel.
remember the HHO craze.

The was an inventor who came up with a magic pellet , that when dropped into the cars special tank of water, the car could run off that
Turns out it was acetylene . So nothing new .
that would be very dangerous. acetylene becomes explosive when under pressure (>15psi) and combine that with the air in a fuel tank.

My father told me there have been many instances of new ideas thought up over the years and the petrol companies bought their concepts and shelved them. They are making too much money and just don't want the competition.
It is better to wear out than to rust out.
- Richard Chamberlain, Tour of the Hebrides
Us husbands are a sorry lot.
the thing about good ideas is many people make those things independent of each other. so if it was a good idea and its been suppressed, it simply pops up elsewhere.
the big one is to take patents out on it. but that has time limits and some companies will use that idea, flood the market and make the money before you can enforce the patent.
so the idea companies go around buying out those ideas and not use them, thats either false or the ideas where not actually any good.
especially add in the competitiveness between companies, anyone that can make their product better does so, so they can outsell the competition.
